- New state-of-the-art police station for Forrestfield
- Follows announcement of 800 new police officers, on top of 300 already being delivered
- McGowan Government building stronger, safer communities across Western Australia
A re-elected McGowan Labor Government will build a new state of the art police station in Forrestfield, to keep residents safe.
It follows the McGowan Government’s recruitment of 800 more police officers as part of the State Budget, on top of the 300 new police officers already being delivered.
The new $22 million Forrestfield Police Station complex will be built on a standalone parcel of land and will replace the outdated police station, currently located on Strelitzia Avenue.
The purpose built station will better suit operational needs, so that officers can respond to policing tasks and emergencies in a more efficient, effective and faster manner.
Today’s commitment builds on the McGowan Government’s unprecedented investment in community safety, with more than $750 million added to the WA Police Force budget over the past four years.
It’s in direct contrast to the cuts the Liberal-National Government made to policing prior to the 2017 State election.
The McGowan Labor Government is delivering the single biggest increase in police officers Western Australia’s history, to put a stronger and more visible police presence on our streets.
Only a McGowan Labor Government will boost police response capabilities in the eastern corridor, by ensuring our hardworking police officers have a modern facility and the equipment they need.
Comments attributed to Premier Mark McGowan:
“This is a major investment in local policing to ensure the Forrestfield community is kept safe.
“Only a re-elected WA Labor Government will build a new state of the art police station to boost the response capability of our hardworking police.
“At the last election we pledged to extend the operating hours of Forrestfield Police Station to give the community better access to local police. We delivered on that commitment, and by building the new station, we will continue our strong record of investment in community safety in Forrestfield.
“We want to continue to ensure the people of Forrestfield have the policing services they deserve to keep their community safe.”
